Rob, 2024

"The trip to Uzbekistan had been on my list for awhile and with The Adventure Project, it was a fantastic experience. There was a nice mix of side country and touring. After touring for approximately 4 hours we skied the biggest line I have ever skied. The side country skiing is fantastic with good powder access. We were fortunate that the conditions were superb during our visit. The cultural activities were great. I highly recommend The Adventure Project and this trip."

The Tien Shan Mountains Are A Rare Powder Destination

In Uzbekistan’s Tien Shan mountains, we’ll hit up three distinct ski areas in and around the Amirsoy ski resort, Chimgan ski resort, and Beldersay ski resort. Amirsoy is known for smooth ski lift access and dialed runs to warm up on before heading into the deep stuff. Chimgan is full of wide-open bowls and seemingly endless opportunities to lay down tracks, while Beldersay ups the intensity with steep, technical descents and untouched backcountry lines. And the best part? You’ll barely see another rider—it’s all yours to shred.

Beyond the Slopes

After your days on the mountain, you’ll spend two nights in the capital city Tashkent just a short drive from Chimgan. You’ll start with a full day of sightseeing, exploring the city’s Soviet-era architecture and Central Asian markets with a local guide who knows all the best spots. Then, we’ll jump on the high-speed Afrosiyob train to Samarkand to check out this ancient Silk Road stop, where you’ll see centuries-old mosques and mosaics.

Uzbek Cuisine & Local Hospitality

Hospitality runs deep in Uzbek culture. Guests are often greeted with a handshake or a bow with a hand over the heart, followed by an incredible spread of food. Plov (Uzbek pilaf) is a local favorite with sides of fresh bread, dumplings, and neverending top offs of tea. And that tea? It’s a symbol of respect and care and it’s served throughout meals to make you feel truly at home

Plus, the ancient history and culture add a whole other layer to the adventure. This trip mixes epic lines with an off-mountain experience you won’t find anywhere else in the world.

Explore 3 Top Resorts in Uzbekistan

Chimgan Ski Resort
Chimgan is Uzbekistan’s oldest and most natural ski area. It’s well-known for its open, backcountry feel and its easy access to powder and off-piste terrain. Though it has fewer amenities, Chimgan’s raw, natural landscape and lack of crowds make it the perfect spot if you’re looking to experience Uzbekistan’s skiing roots.
Beldersay Ski Resort
A freeriders paradise, Beldersay is home to challenging runs and some of the longest descents in Uzbekistan, some reaching up to 3,000 meters in length. This resort is a favorite for advanced skiers because of its steep slopes, off-piste areas, and more technical terrain. But even with world class lines, it still maintains a more traditional feel than larger, modern resorts.
Amirsoy Mountain Resort
Amirsoy is Uzbekistan’s newest and most modern resort, equipped with high-speed lifts, a gondola, and well-groomed trails. Here you’ll find a good mix of groomed runs and off-piste opportunities as well as amenities like ski rentals, cafes, and high-quality facilities.
